Wear-resistant compounds for machinery and textile equipment

POM, glass- and carbon-filled nylon and PBT for gears, bushes, rollers and slide rails where low friction and wear resistance decide service life.

Machine parts in plastic must earn their place against metal. They have to carry load, resist wear and hold their dimensions in oil, humidity and heat. We compound polyacetal, polyamide and PBT with glass or carbon fibre for gears, bearing bushes, rollers, slide rails and textile machinery parts.

Industrial, textile and agricultural customers together account for 24% of our revenue. Many of these parts are customised, so we start from your drawing and duty cycle, propose a trial formulation in 48-72 hours, and test it on our UTM, Izod and HDT equipment before you see a sample.

What the parts need

  • Wear and friction

Low-friction, wear-resistant POM for gears, bearing bushes, rollers and slide rails.

  • Metal replacement

Glass- and carbon-fibre polyamides carry structural loads at a fraction of the weight of metal.

  • Low moisture uptake

POM and PBT absorb little moisture, so gears and fits keep their size in humid mills.

  • Oil and chemical resistance

Polyamide, POM and PBT grades resist oils, greases and many industrial chemicals.

Typical parts

  • Gears
  • Bearing bushes
  • Rollers
  • Slide rails
  • Textile machinery parts
  • Pump and valve parts
  • Cams and levers
  • Power-tool housings

Questions buyers ask

Can a plastic gear replace a metal one?

In many designs, yes, depending on load, speed and temperature. Send the drawing and duty cycle. We will propose a POM or reinforced polyamide grade, test it in our laboratory and send samples for your trials.

Do you supply technical data sheets?

Yes, on request. Relative ratings for surface finish, stiffness, impact, heat, chemical and abrasion resistance are published on this site for each grade. Numeric values are in the technical data sheet.

Do you offer free testing?

Regular customers receive free product testing in our laboratory, which covers DSC, FT-IR, MFI, UTM, Izod impact and HDT/VSAT. External laboratory testing can be arranged on request.
